Fire Suppression Agents and How Do They Work?
Fire suppression floods the protected area with a mixture of microparticles and gaseous materials. Until the particles are discharged from the apparatus, they are in a vapor form. To put out the fire, a chain reaction creates solid particles and gaseous stuff when it is released.
The suppression agent must break the fire tetrahedron to put out a fire. Suppression chemicals must therefore lower the fuel, remove oxygen, eliminate heat, or prevent a chain reaction from occurring. A fire will continue to burn as long as there is enough heat, fuel, and oxygen present. Fire suppression systems that use aerosols function by eliminating heat:
Large microparticles are released by aerosol systems, which surround the flame.
The particles cool the flame and absorb heat as they come into contact with it, putting out the fire.
